The Arbiter, the student news organization at Boise State University, won 15 awards–including first place for General Excellence–at the Idaho Press Club Best of 2015 awards banquet on Saturday April 30. In attendance were editor-in-chief Justin Kirkham, managing editor Patty Bowen, news editor Patrick Adcock, staff writer Alivia Wachsmuth, faculty adviser and journalism professor Seth Ashley, and journalism professor Jessica Roberts.

The awards demonstrate the well rounded nature of The Arbiter’s coverage of issues affecting the Boise State community, ranging from student insurance changes and campus program closures to sexual assault and social media activism. The awards speak to the strength of the important and relevant work being produced by Boise State student journalists. In addition to beating out the University of Idaho’s Argonaut for General Excellence, Boise State students won awards for news, watchdog/investigative, serious feature, light feature, editorial, sports, page design and photography. The full list of awards appears below.

The Arbiter is an independent student organization housed within the Division of Student Affairs.
