The Arbiter, Boise State University’s independent student media outlet, won 15 awards at the Idaho Press Club’s Best of 2016 awards banquet, including the first-place award for general excellence in student journalism. The awards were announced at a dinner in Boise on Saturday May 6.

Student staffers won individual awards in several categories. The first place in general excellence award shows how Boise State students can hold their own in their friendly rivalry with The Argonaut at the University of Idaho, home to Idaho’s only accredited School of Journalism and Mass Media.

Student staffers Patty Bowen, Brandon Rasmussen, Jacob Palmer and Andy Ridgeway attended the dinner Saturday night along with faculty adviser Dr. Seth Ashley.
