Ryan Cannon is an assistant professor at Boise State University, and a director/cinematographer working in film and television. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a James A. Michener Fellow in Writing, and has taught film & video production previously at Brigham Young University and the University of Central Missouri. Ryan has worked for nearly a decade as a freelance filmmaker in commercial, documentary, and narrative film productions. His work has earned ADDY and Telly awards, seen theatrical release, national television broadcast, distribution through online venues such as Netflix and Amazon, and many film festival accolades, which include selections in the Sundance Film Festival. His screenwriting has received recognition from the Academy of Art and Sciences’ Nicholl Fellowship, been optioned and developed by major film production studios, and his short fiction has appeared in literary journals such as Alaska Quarterly Review, Whitefish Review, and Salt Hill Journal.
