COMM 304 Perspectives of Communication


Biography:

Matthew Isbell was an associate professor at Merrimack College prior to joining the faculty at Boise State. He received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, a master’s degree from the University of Montana, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

His research interests are in collaboration, nonprofit organizations, and health program implementation. As an applied scholar, Dr. Isbell works with many at-risk populations around the topics of nutrition and infant development. He has worked with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program in both Texas and New Hampshire.

Dr. Isbell’s work is published in many top journals, including Communication Monographs, Management Communication Quarterly and the American Journal of Public Health. He is also the co-author of a book on the language of inter-organizational collaboration.

Dr. Isbell teaches classes on nonprofit organizations, collaboration and organizational communication.

He is an outdoor enthusiast, hiker, and runner. Born and raised in Detroit, cheering for his “mitten state” sports teams is mandatory no matter where he lives.
